The ad highlights Sand’s love of efficiency and the aggressive approach he has brought to the Auditor’s office since vowing to “Wake up the Watchdog” in his 2018 campaign.

“Holding insiders accountable, making government more efficient, and saving taxpayer dollars is serious work, political campaigning does not always have to be,” said Sand. “I’m excited to tell the story of our office’s work differently. We’ve identified more misspent funds than any Auditor’s office in their first term in recent history. We’ve made our office more efficient and started a government efficiency program so good the Republican State Auditor of Mississippi copied it. Iowans can expect me to keep holding insiders accountable and doing politics differently in a second term.”

Sand is being challenged by Republican Todd Halbur, a former CFO of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, licensed real estate agent, and small business owner from Clive.
