Rowley Wins Republican Nomination for Iowa Senate District 1

Republicans chose Dave Rowley as their candidate for the special election in Iowa Senate District 1 on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 during their nominating convention.

Rowley Wins Republican Nomination for Iowa Senate District 1

OKOBOJI, Iowa – Republicans chose Dave Rowley as their candidate for the special election in Iowa Senate District 1 on December 14 during the nominating convention on Thursday.

“I am honored today to be chosen as the Republican candidate for Senate District 1,” said Rowley. “As a long time resident of northwest Iowa, I share the values and priorities of Iowans in these communities and I will be their voice in Des Moines. I will work for tax relief, good schools, and career opportunities in rural Iowa. Thank you to everyone for their support tonight, and I look forward to earning the support of the voters in December.”

Rowley, a Spirit Lake resident for the last 25 years, is an insurance agent at Blum and Leonard Associates. He is a former Dickinson County GOP chair and president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, receiving a B.A. in Psychology.

Gov. Kim Reynolds set December 14 as the date for the special election following State Senator Zach Whiting’s resignation. 

Iowa Senate District 1 is located in Clay, Dickinson, Lyon, Osceola, and Palo Alto counties, including Spirit Lake, Spencer, Emmetsburg, Sibley, and Rock Rapids.
