“Senator Rubio was one of the many candidates we had the opportunity to host in the 2016 caucus cycle and we are excited to welcome him back to Ames,” Brett Barker, chairman of the Story County Republican Party, told The Iowa Torch.

He joins other prominent Republicans who have visited Iowa this summer such as former Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark., former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, the winner of the 2016 Iowa Caucus, will speak at Hinson’s fundraising event on August 28. U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, will headline a Dallas County GOP fundraiser on September 2. Last week, U.S. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Green, R-Ga., and Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., held an America First rally in Des Moines.
