“No member of the Republican Party of Iowa State Central Committee, its Officers, its Staff, or RNC Members shall publicly endorse a U.S. Presidential Candidate during the 2024 Iowa Caucuses,” the motion reads.

“Hosting the First-in-the-Nation Caucus is not just a privilege for Iowa, but a critical responsibility that affects the direction of our country as a whole. The Republican Party of Iowa is committed to executing this democratic duty with total neutrality and fairness,” Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann said in response.

Currently, former President Donald Trump is the only Republican who announced a 2024 presidential bid. Trump finished second in Iowa in 2016 behind U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. He easily won the 2020 Iowa Caucus against his sole challenger, former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh of Illinois.

While Iowa Republicans will hold onto their first-in-the-nation status, the Iowa Democratic Party was recently stripped of its first-in-the-nation status by the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee.
