DES MOINES, Iowa – State Senator Zach Nunn, R-Bondurant, candidate for the Republican nomination in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District and U.S. Air Force combat veteran, launched his first ad buy of the campaign on Monday highlighting his military service and efforts to evacuate American citizens left behind in Afghanistan.

“I’m proud to have served my nation in uniform, and I’m proud of our accomplishments in the Iowa Senate,” Nunn said, “but I’ve got a lot more fight left in me, and I’m ready to take that fight and record of service to Washington.”

Nunn co-founded and chairs Task Force Argo, a group of private citizens working to evacuate Americans and Afghan allies stranded in Afghanistan.

“We intend to honor the commitment our country has made and will not rest until this objective is fulfilled,” Nunn said.

To date, the group has successfully evacuated 2,663 Americans, their families, and approved Afghan allies.

All flights are sponsored by Task Force Argo’s generous donors making them free of charge for all Task Force Argo evacuees.

As part of a coalition of veterans, Task Force Argo has helped thousands of Americans flee Afghanistan who were trapped behind after the fall of the country.

As a combat veteran, Nunn served our country as an airborne intelligence officer in the United States Air Force. After 9/11, he deployed three times to the Middle East and flew over 700 combat hours.

Following his military service, Nunn was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives and later the Iowa Senate. Nunn has ousted Democratic incumbents twice, including in 2018, when his campaign flipped a decades-long Democrat-held seat by 12 percent in Polk County. He also outperformed Governor Reynolds by three percent and David Young by four percent demonstrating an ability to win the Polk County suburbs. Nunn was recently named to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) Young Guns program, which determines the top U.S. House recruits nationally.
