A note from our editor

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tony Evans, one of the nation’s most highly regarded pastors and speakers, to the FAMiLY Leadership Summit,” Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The FAMiLY Leader, said. “From pastors, authors, and entertainers, to thought leaders and elected officials, the Summit’s star-studded lineups through the years are a recognition of the prominence Iowa plays in the national discussion and the unique stage the Summit provides to explore how faith impacts every sphere of life.

“Now in its 11th year, with Dr. Evans and more speakers yet to be announced,” concludes Vander Plaats, “I genuinely believe this will be the best FAMiLY Leadership Summit yet!”

Evans is the founder and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, founder and president of The Urban Alternative, former chaplain of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks & Dallas Cowboys, and author of over 125 books, booklets, and Bible studies. The first African American to earn a Doctor of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, he has been named one of the “12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World” by Baylor University.

Evans also holds the honor of writing and publishing the first full-Bible commentary and study Bible by an African American. His radio broadcast, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans, can be heard on more than 1,400 U.S. outlets daily and in more than 130 countries.

Evans launched the Tony Evans Training Center in 2017, an online learning platform providing quality seminary-style courses for a fraction of the cost to any person in any place. The TETC currently has over 40 courses to choose from and has a student population of over 2,000.

Evans was married to Lois, his wife and ministry partner of over 50 years, until she passed away in 2019. They are the proud parents of four, grandparents of thirteen, and great-grandparents of three.

Additional speakers for the Summit will be announced as they confirm.
