Dicks announces campaign in new Iowa House District 46

GRIMES, Iowa – Dave Dicks, a conservative activist and small business owner in Grimes, announced that he would seek the Republican nomination in the newly drawn Iowa House District 46 that includes the entire city of Grimes (located in both Dallas and Polk counties) and the northeast corner of Dallas County including parts of Woodward, Granger, and Urbandale. The district did not have any incumbents drawn into it so the seat is open for the 2022 elections.

Dicks has served as a central committee member for the Republican Party of Polk County for 12 years, including serving as the party’s secretary. He was also elected to serve on the platform, credentials, and rules committees for county, district, and state Republican conventions. Dicks also ran unsuccessfully to become Iowa’s Republican National Committeeman in 2020.

“As a traditional conservative, I believe the three forms of government should be respected and maintained to ensure accountability,” Dicks said in a released statement. “I decided to run for state representative because the people of district 46 want to be happy, safe and free. As their representative, I am going to fight for them to make sure they are happy, safe, and free!”

He said he believes in the right to free speech, freedom of religion, the right to keep and bear arms, and the Constitution as written by the nation’s founding fathers. As an adopted child, Dicks said he is fierce advocate for life and allowing parents the right to determine how their children are educated.

“As state representative I would work to abolish the state income tax, create tax breaks for the elderly, and cut useless spending,” Dicks added.

He added that he plans to find ways to create stability for Iowans impacted by inflation and introduce legislation to protect and support our first responders.

Dicks is a father to four adult children with two who serve as a paramedic and a police officer and two children serving in the military with one in the U.S. Navy and the other serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Dicks will hold his formal campaign kickoff for potential supporters in Iowa House District 46 on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Main Street Venue located at 321 SE Main Street in Grimes.
