DES MOINES, Iowa – Heritage Action last Thursday launched an ad campaign targeting U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne, D-Iowa, over her support for the Build Back Better Act, the $1.75 trillion social spending bill she voted for on Friday.

The ad (watch above) also criticized Axne’s apparent support for the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap change present in the bill she voted to pass. The bill increased the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap from $10,000 to $72,500 for five years and then extended that cap through 2031. The Tax Foundation found those who would benefit most from this provision that costs $300 billion are households making between $200,000 and $1 million a year.

The broadcast ad will air in the Des Moines area and the digital ad in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Heritage Action is targeting five House Democrats in a $1.25 million TV and digital ad buy over their support for raising the SALT deduction cap. This month’s $1.25 million SALT deduction ad buy is the latest installment of Heritage Action’s $2 million+ cable, broadcast, and digital ad campaign aimed at opposing the Democrats’ “Build Back Broke agenda.”

Heritage Action is just one of several groups pouring money into what will end up being a hotly contested race in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District.

“Democrats actively work to divide Americans along every conceivable line and then deliver campaign promises to certain Americans in those divisions. But behind closed doors, they work to pay off coastal elites in blue states. Their latest plan is to give $200 billion in blue state bailouts to their rich friends at the expense of all other Americans. This provision is just the latest of hundreds of dangerous and divisive elements of the Biden tax and spending agenda. Heritage Action will continue to hold liberal politicians accountable and expose their Build Back Broke agenda for what it truly is,” Jessica Anderson, executive director of Heritage Action, said in a released statement.

“Nancy Pelosi slipped a big tax break for her wealthy friends into Biden’s bloated spending bill. The rich get tax breaks on their Hamptons beach houses and Malibu mansions. And you pay the bill. With crushing taxes on small businesses and skyrocketing inflation, raising prices for gas and groceries, the coastal elites get an insider sweetheart deal on their taxes, and you pay more,” the ad says in part.

Heritage Action is a national grassroots organization with nearly two million grassroots activists nationwide. Heritage Action advances the policies of their partner organization, The Heritage Foundation, and works to make them a reality.
