URBANDALE, Iowa – The FAMiLY Leader announced on Monday that former Vice President Mike Pence will speak at the FAMiLY Leadership Summit on July 16, 2021, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines.
“We are grateful to once again welcome nationally prominent voices and leaders to Iowa for the FAMiLY Leadership Summit,” Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The FAMiLY Leader, said in a released statement. “From pastors, authors, and entertainers to thought leaders and elected officials, the Summit’s star-studded lineups through the years are a recognition of the prominence Iowa plays in the national discussion and the unique stage the Summit provides to explore how faith impacts every sphere of life.
“Now in its tenth year, with Vice President Pence joining the lineup and a fantastic program planned,” he added. “I genuinely believe this will be the best FAMiLY Leadership Summit yet!”
Pence has made several trips to Iowa in his capacity as Vice President and campaigning in 2016 and 2020. He is seen as a potential presidential candidate in 2024.
He joins former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who will make his third trip to Iowa in July, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will make her second trip to Iowa. Both are considered prospective 2024 presidential candidates.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will also be in Iowa this summer. She will speak at the Republican Party of Iowa’s Lincoln Dinner on June 24. That event will be her second visit to Iowa after headling U.S. Senator Joni Ernst’s Roast and Ride in 2019.
The Family Leadership Summit’s speaking lineup also includes conservative talk show host Steve Deace, New York Times best selling author Joel C. Rosenberg, former Solicitor General of the United States Ken Starr, Vander Plaats, and Dr. Michael Youssef, the senior pastor of Church of the Apostles in Atlanta and is the executive president of Leading the Way.
