Ernst, Grassley, Feenstra, and Hinson Urge House to Reject Hart’s Challenge of Iowa 2nd CD Results

From Left: U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, U.S. Rep-Elect Randy Feenstra, and U.S. Rep-Elect Ashley Hinson.

WASHINGTON—U.S Senators Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, led a letter sent today urging leaders of the House of Representatives and House Committee on Administration to reject Rita Hart’s contest of election results in Iowa’s 2nd congressional district and the dangerous precedent it would set. The letter was also signed by U.S. Reps.-Elect Ashley Hinson and Randy Feenstra, comprising all but one member of Iowa’s incoming congressional delegation for the 117th Congress.

“Ms. Hart is asking the House of Representatives to create a dangerous precedent… Iowans rightly have confidence in the integrity of our state’s election officials and process. Any action to bypass or overturn a fair election conducted according to Iowa law would not be well received by the citizens of our state and would result in a cloud over the results of such efforts,” the delegation wrote.

It was addressed to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Committee Chair Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., and Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis, R-Ill.
