Twitter suspends accounts they say violate the social media platform’s rules, but it’s unclear how the City of Nevada’s official account has done that. Twitter’s algorithm will sometimes flag tweets and respond to complaints.

This is the second time the city saw its Twitter account suspended.

“You just go to tweet one day and get that pop-up. No notice. No reason. And the help page is no help. It took me forever to figure out how to appeal the first time it happened,” Barker told The Iowa Torch.

He said it took a couple weeks before the suspension was lifted the last time.
