Wasson Announces He Will Run for Open Seat in Iowa Senate District 42

Justin Wasson îs running for the Republican nomination in Iowa Senate District 42.

Iowa needs less career politicians and more pro-parent conservative entrepreneurs in Des Moines. That’s the message I’ve brought to the Iowa Senate District 42 (Linn/Benton counties) campaign trail.

I’m running to represent my friends and neighbors in Iowa’s legislature because I’m concerned about the direction of our state and the world my children will grow up in if more conservatives don’t step up to improve the status-quo. Our state is being run by one of the best Governors Iowa has ever seen but obstruction, often led by some members of her own party who also call eastern Iowa home, has led to a frustrating legislative session.

Linn and Benton counties deserve to be represented by a pro-Iowa state senator who is not only supportive of Governor Kim Reynolds’ agenda but is willing to advocate for the interests of our community, fight to end abortion in Iowa, work towards removing the state’s job-killing income tax, push back against woke, abusive school board policies like Linn-Mar’s and usher in the school choice reforms parents and students deserve.

I’ve lived in Linn County all my life and I am proud to be raising my family and running a thriving, job creating business here. I also have a passion for advancing the conservative cause in Iowa and serving my community. I’m currently serving my second term as Chair of the Linn County Iowa GOP, I’m treasure of the Iowa Young Republicans, I’m secretary of the Eastern Iowa Young Republicans, I’m a member of the Iowa Firearms Coalition, I’ve been Chair of the Linn County GOP Caucuses and I’ve proudly volunteered for countless conservative state and federal candidates including President Donald Trump, Rep. Ashley Hinson and Governor Kim Reynolds.

I also give back to my community as the tennis coach at Washington High School, as a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, Sonshine Early Childhood Academy and Feed Iowa First among many other important community focused organizations.

I’m a graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids and I hold a degree in finance from Iowa State University.

I haven’t been funded by PACs, out of state mega-donors, corporations or DC special interest groups. Instead, my only financial support has come from local people like you. The only special interest group I’m interested in serving are those who call Linn and Benton counties home.

I’m proud to have already publicly received the support of Iowa’s most conservative elected officials, small business owners, farming advocates, grassroots organizations and Republican party leaders among many others but I humbly ask for your support on June 7th too. The Red Wave starts in Linn and Benton counties, and we’ve got lots of work to do. I know I’m up for the challenge and will always put our interests first.
