PELLA, Iowa – U.S. Senator Tim Scott, R-S.C., returned to Iowa on Wednesday for a town hall event at Sun Valley Barn in Pella with a crowd that may be the campaign’s largest for a solo campaign event in Iowa to date.
Scott is trying to break through an increasingly crowded Republican field competing for the party’s nomination for President. In the hour-long town hall, Scott discussed his background and vision for America criticizing the “addiction to victimhood,” instead pointed to the promise of America.
“I’m running for president because I believe, I know, America can do for anyone what she’s done for me,” he said.
“I believe in America not because I have all the things that went right, I actually believe in America because I was blessed to grow up (here),” Scott stated.
He took questions from the audience on issues ranging from education, veterans administration, abortion, vaccine injuries, and what is seen as the politicization of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice.
