DES MOINES, Iowa – U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne, D-Iowa, will hold a town hall in Urbandale on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. It is the 70th town hall she has held since being sworn into office.
The ‘Connect with your Congresswoman’ town hall will be held at 5:15 p.m. at the Lions Centennial Open Shelter, located at the northwest corner of Lions Park, at 72nd Street and Aurora Avenue in Urbandale.
Hosting town halls across all 16 counties of Iowa’s Third Congressional District has been a key feature of Congresswoman Axne’s first two and a half years in office.
In her first year in office, the pace of her town halls earned her the recognition of Most Accessible Freshman Member of Congress by the Town Hall Project.
Last year, Axne was named as a finalist for the Congressional Management Foundation’s Democracy Awards in the category of ‘Transparency and Accountability’ in part for her consistent planning of town halls and widely attended events during her first term.
In accordance with CDC guidelines and advice of Iowa’s local public health departments, attendees are encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Attendees who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are encouraged to wear a face mask for their own safety.
Axne will also hold a roundtable discussion on skills training on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Des Moines Area Community College’s Urban Campus in Des Moines.
