DES MOINES, Iowa – Nikki Haley’s Stand For America (SFA) PAC issued its first endorsement of the 2022 election cycle to freshman Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks who represents Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.

Haley is widely expected to run for president in 2024 and endorsing this early in the Hawkeye state fuels the speculation.

After two recounts, Miller-Meeks won her race in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District by a six-vote margin and was declared the winner by a unanimous bipartisan elections board. Her Democratic opponent, Rita Hart, challenged the election results before the U.S. Committee on House Administration opting not to challenge the results in Iowa courts.

“I’m proud to endorse Mariannette. She’s a conservative fighter bringing Iowa values to Washington. While she’s working hard to protect our border and reopen her state’s schools and economy, Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Democrats are busy trying to overturn her election. We need to remind them that Iowans choose who represents the 2nd District, not Nancy Pelosi,” Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Governor and U.N. Ambassador, said.

Miller-Meeks was sworn into Congress on January 3, 2021, on a provisional basis. They note that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Democrats may overturn the congressional district’s results. The Democratic-controlled Committee on House Administration voted to table Miller-Meeks’ motion to dismiss Hart’s challenge and may conduct its own recount in which Democrats get to decide which ballots are counted.

SFA PAC says Haley’s endorsement will not only support Miller-Meeks in her 2022 reelection campaign, but it sends a clear message to Nancy Pelosi that Republicans have her back.
