Reynolds won re-election to a second full-term in November and will give the speech to a legislature with a stronger Republican majority.

The Iowa Constitution in Article IV, Section 12 mandates the Governor gives an address to the Iowa Legislature every year but does not specify how that takes place.

It reads, “(The Governor) shall communicate, by message, to the General Assembly, at every regular session, the condition of the state, and recommend such matters as he shall deem expedient.”

In the address, Reynolds will highlight her legislative agenda and budgetary priorities for 2023. The budget proposal is typically released the same day and traditionally has been scheduled for the second day of the legislative session.

Iowa PBS will livestream the address and it can also be watched on Reynolds’ YouTube channel and Facebook page.
